Surgical sperm retrieval is a surgical procedure that extracts sperm directly from the testicles. The surgical sperm retrieval procedure may be performed either through a biopsy by way of an incision, or with a fine needle in the testicles. This surgical procedure is a perfect fit for men whose sperm counts are below average, who have undergone a vasectomy, or for whom ejaculation is problematic (injury or infection).
Obstruction of the Vasa Deferentia : Vasa Deferentia are the tubes that transport the sperm from the testicles to the urethra. Sometimes, either naturally or as a result of vasectomy, these ducts may be blocked. Thus, sperm cannot reach to the urethra & may never exit the male body. In such cases, the surgical sperm retrieval procedure draws sperm directly from the testicles.
Absence of the Vasa Deferentia :Men born without the tube, meaning that the path which connects the testes to the urethra never existed. In this case, our ultra-modern surgical sperm retrieval may prove vital to extract valuable sperm from the testicles.
Low Sperm Count (Non-obstructive azoospermia)
An obstruction preventing sperm release, due to injury or infection.
Techniques for Surgical Sperm Retrieval :
PESA, which stands for Percutaneous epididymal spermaspiration is the technique that collects the sperm directly from the epididymis (where sperm is stored) through a fine needle, after it is formed in the testes. The sperm may be retrieved by using a delicate suction.
TESA (Testicular sperm aspiration) - It is the technique in which a needle is inserted in the testicle and sperm are extracted from the tissue. The sperm may be retrieved by using a gentle suction.
TESE, which stands for Testicular sperm extraction is the technique that collects sperm from the testicles after making a small incision in the scrotal skin under local anesthesia.
Step 1: Sedation
Our Surgical Sperm Retrieval procedure entails anaesthetizing a guest beforehand, to ensure a smooth & a painless experience as we believe in enveloping every guest in comfort and care during the surgical procedure.
Step 2: Sperm Extraction
The extraction of the sperm (after being produced in the testicles) from the testicles by using PESA, TESA or TESE techniques.
